Having done a little more research, its looks like you are correct. According to Free Speech Radio News (http://www.fsrn.org/news/20070423_news.html), it will truly be up to the centrist voters, in addition to how many voters shows up for the second round.

Does anyone know what percent of the votes went to the candidates to the left of Royal? And the percent for the more right candidates than Sarkozy? Is this an accurate way to predict the winner of the final round? Thanks!

It should be noted that what the Free Software Foundation means by "free software" is NOT "free as in zero cost" (i.e.: freeware, which is proprietary, aka closed source), but rather "free as in freedom" (aka "open source").
